The chocolate confiture with a subtle note of red wine adds an interesting contrast to the crispy bacon.
(for 4 people)
Ingredients for the confiture:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 small onions
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
200 ml red wine
Salt to taste
25 g dark chocolate
For assembling the canapés:
8 pieces of bacon
8 slices of bread
200 g Emmentaler cheese
Preparation method:
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan. Add 4 small chopped onions and cook them until golden. Add 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Stir until the sugar melts.
Pour in 200 ml of red wine and let it simmer until reduced by half. Season with salt to taste. Finally, add 25 g of dark chocolate and stir until it melts completely. Let it cool.
Place 8 pieces of bacon on a baking sheet and bake them in the oven until crispy. Meanwhile, toast 8 slices of bread in a toaster or oven. Grate 200 g of Emmentaler cheese.
Spread a generous amount of chocolate confiture on each slice of toasted bread. Place one crispy piece of bacon on top of each slice of toasted bread. Sprinkle the grated Emmentaler cheese over them. Put the canapés back in the oven for a few minutes, until the cheese melts and turns golden.
Serve the canapés warm, as a delicious and unique appetizer for your Christmas meal.
Bon Appétit!
