Beetroot and Cheese Tart
I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for interesting appetizers, especially when friends come over. For the first time today, I'm making a beetroot tart with brie, sunflower sprouts, and onion sprouts.
The original recipe calls for goat cheese, but I couldn't find it at the store I went to for the show, but after all, there's always room for improvisation in the kitchen.
Ingredients
- 500g red beetroot
- 100ml clear honey
- 2 large tablespoons olive oil
- juice of one orange
- 320g puff pastry
- 15g almonds (can be replaced with any other nuts)
- 25g goat cheese, feta or brie
- onion sprouts, sunflower sprouts, can be replaced with arugula
Method of preparation
- Preheat oven to 200 C while preparing the ingredients
- Peel the beetroot and cut into rounds, arrange the rounds on a baking tray, season with salt, pepper, add honey, and orange juice. Place them in the upper part of the oven for 25 minutes until tender.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a tray, gently prick the dough with a fork so the dough can breathe and won't puff up, and place in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes.
- After removing from the oven, place the beetroot over the dough, leaving about 2 cm from the edge, add the cheese, chopped nuts on top, and season with a little oil, then bake for 10 minutes.
It's an unusual tart. It's worth trying! Bon appetit!
