Description

The south of Kagoshima Prefecture receives more sun than almost any other tea region in Japan, and the soil is mineral, of volcanic origin. The combination gives the leaves vigor and a color you immediately see in the bowl: bright emerald, with no trace of dullness.

Saemidori was created precisely for this—a cultivar prized for its color and the balance between sweetness and freshness. First harvest, shaded for 20 days, stone-ground, organically grown.

It's the most forgiving ceremonial matcha in the range: if the water is a few degrees too hot or you dose a little too much, it doesn't punish you with bitterness. Whisked simply, it's bright and fresh; in a latte without syrup, it remains recognizable. This is where most people start when moving from supermarket matcha to real matcha.
